Mercy Springfield’s Chief Administrative Officer says on social media the hospital is opening its fourth dedicated unit for COVID patients today.
69 COVID patients @MercySGF this morning. We sent 10 home and 13 were admitted. Unfortunately we had one more pass on. The impact of this is real. As we direct more resources to COVID it strains our system. Please continue to do your part to help. Thank you.

Here’s a tweet from Sunday afternoon.
Our COVID census @MercySGF continues to rise daily. 67 today which is double from 2 weeks ago. 17 in ICU. Opening our 4th dedicated unit tomorrow. Our coworkers are working tirelessly to provide care. Please keep them in your prayers. Take care of your neighbor. Thank you.
