Lawrence County Sheriff Starts Roadkill Venison Program

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has found a way of disposing of deer hit by vehicle that also puts food on the table.

You can sign up to be on a waiting list in Lawrence county to be notified of the next time a salvageable deer is found.

The program was started a little while ago as a deputy felt bad about leaving good meat on the side of the road. The only requirements are to live in Lawrence county and check in with your conservation agent.

Butchering isn’t offered, so those skills might come in handy.

This is legal anywhere in the state of Missouri, but there is a requirement that you check in with your local conservation agent for proper documentation.
