(KTTS News) — Springfield Police have identified the pedestrian who died after she was hit by a car last night.
Karyn Williamson, 60, from Springfield was walking at Grand and Newton just before 6 p.m. when she was hit.
She died at the hospital.
72-year-old Leonardo Gato from Springfield was taken into custody.
Police believe impairment was involved in the crash.

On Nov. 14, 2023, at 5:54 p.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at Grand and Newton.
A black 2007 Ford Fusion, driven by Leonardo Gato, 72, of Springfield, was westbound on Grand when it hit a pedestrian, Karyn Williamson, 60, of Springfield. Gato was taken into custody.
Williamson was transported to the hospital where she died. Williamson’s family has been notified.
While impairment is suspected as a factor, the investigation is ongoing as to the circumstances involved in the crash.
This was Springfield’s 25th fatal motor vehicle crash in 2023.
