(KTTS News) — Work begins next week on intersection improvements at National and Sunshine in Springfield.
Beginning October 2, construction crews will install pedestrian features in the eastbound to southbound right turn lane.
There will be lane closures on National and Sunshine.
Florence Avenue will be closed at Sunshine with local traffic only via Washita Street.
The work is expected to last through November 10.
The $235,000 project is funded through the voter-approved 1/8-cent Transportation Sales Tax.

Construction of turn lane and safety improvements at the intersection of National Avenue and Sunshine Street is set to begin Monday, Oct. 2. The project is expected to last through Nov. 10 (weather and other factors permitting).
The project will include improvements to the right turn lane from eastbound Sunshine to southbound National Avenue and the installation of pedestrian features on the southwest corner of National Avenue and Sunshine Street.
Construction activity will take place primarily in the southwest corner of the intersection and involve various lane closures on National and Sunshine. Florence Avenue will also be closed at Sunshine Street for the duration of the project with access to local traffic only via Washita Street.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and seek an alternate route if possible. Please obey all posted signage and use caution when traveling through the construction zone.
The total cost of the National and Sunshine Turn Lane and Safety Improvement Project is $235,000. It is funded through the voter-approved 1/8-cent Transportation Sales Tax.
