(KTTS News) — Springfield City Council has voted to repeal the use of eminent domain on the Hotel of Terror.
City leaders will continue negotiating with the owner to buy the property.
The building has been used as a haunted house for 45 years.
But the city wants to buy it so it can fix the Main Street Bridge.
The bridge is falling apart and large vehicles can’t use it until it’s repaired.
And the city can’t do that until it removes the building.
Voters signed a petition asking the city its use of eminent domain.
The city decided to repeal its decision to use eminent domain instead of sending the issue to voters to decide.
