(KTTS News) — Governor Parson is taking steps to prepare for the winter storm that will bring snow and extreme cold temperatures to Missouri.

Gov. Parson signed an executive order to activate the Missouri National Guard and the Missouri State Emergency Operations Plan for state and local response efforts.

People who have to travel are urged to make sure their car is fueled and their phone is charged.  They should have an emergency kit with blankets, flashlights, and food.

Motorists are encouraged to check road conditions before driving to help determine if the trip can be completed safely.
