The Pineapple Whip stand in Springfield is open for its 8th annual Whip Solstice.
The South Campbell location just north of Krispy Kreme includes a drive-thru.
Press Release
Springfield’s own Pineapple Whip is pleased to announce the 8th annual WHIP SOLSTICE—the one time in winter when we open one location so our customers can get their winter fix!
This year is a little different.
After a series of weather delays and technical difficulties, we made a last-minute call Friday morning and served our first customer around 4pm Friday Afternoon.
We’ll be open through Monday 1/30, then take a 3 day intermission Tuesday-Thursday to dodge the ugly weather, and reopen Friday-Sunday February 4-6.
Each day hours are 12pm-10:30pm.
The Whip Solstice will be held at our South Campbell location, 3850 S Campbell, just North of Krispy Kreme.
Customers will have the option to walk up to order next to space heaters or stay warm in their cars and use our drive through that we set up just for Whip Solstice.
In addition to the traditional Pineapple flavor, we’re serving a rotating second flavor.
We’ll also have a limited quantity of pints in flavors including Mango-Peach, Strawberry-Kiwi, Lemon-Berry, Grape, Orange and Banana-Pomegranate
Zach Fortner, who has worked for the 48 year old family-owned business since childhood, says, “We always had people tell us how much they missed us when we closed up for the winter. We hatched the Whip Solstice as more of a joke and a way to make our die-hards happy. We never dreamed more than a few people would show up. I guess people just really want a break from winter and I think we help with that in a small way. If you told me when we started it there would ever be an 8th Annual Whip Solstice, I probably would have laughed, but we’ll keep doing it as long as people keep coming.”
