Springfield Police have issued a public service reminder that your trash could show what you got for Christmas this year, and make your house a target for thieves.
Lieutenant Jennifer Charleston says you should break down your unwanted trash and put it in an opaque trash bag.
Another option is to recycle your unwanted boxes, as all three recycling centers in Springfield will accept cardboard and are free to the public.
