Nixa Fire Asks For No Tax Increase Bond

The Nixa Fire District is asking voters to approve a no tax increase bond in the April 5 general election.

It would raise about $6 million dollars to build a new Fire Station number 1, buy new fire equipment, renovate the Main Street station into a training and community facility, and update the district headquarters.

The current bond was approved in 2014 and is set to expire in 2024.

Press Release

The Nixa Fire Protection District board of directors is calling for a NO TAX INCREASE bond election to be held during the general election Tuesday, April 5th, 2022.

Shall Nixa Fire Protection District issue its general obligation bonds in the amount of $6,400,000 for the purpose of constructing, furnishing and equipping a new fire station; renovating, improving and repairing existing fire stations; and acquiring fire trucks, vehicles and other firefighting and emergency apparatus and equipment?

A general obligation bond, as it applies to the fire district, places a question before the voters as a ballot measure, asking our voters to approve additional proposed spending for facilities and apparatus.

“The passage of the bond renewal will ensure that our firefighters have the facilities and apparatus that are needed to provide the highest level of response that the residents expect and deserve” Fire Chief Lloyd Walles.

This bond will extend the district’s current bond, which was approved in 2014 and is set to expire in 2024 and provided funds for capital expenditures including a new ladder truck and fire station. Those projects were completed as promised. This bond renewal allows the district to continue to keep up with the growth and demands to provide emergency medical and fire response for 38,000 people that reside within the 53 square miles served by the fire district.

Funding from this renewed bond will construct a new Fire Station 1, purchase new fire apparatus, renovate the Main Street station into a training / community facility, and update district headquarters.

More information and facts concerning this bond renewal will soon be available on the district’s website www.NixaFire.org
