Springfield-based Convoy of Hope is in Laplace and Kenner, Louisiana, handing out food, water, tarps and other needed supplies to victims of Hurricane Ida.
Spokesman Ethan Forhetz says church volunteers in Laplace started handing out supplies at 10 a.m.
But by 6 a.m. there was already a line of cars a mile long waiting for assistance.
Forhetz says the humidity is oppressive.
The power is out, and people have no way to stay cool.
Gasoline is also difficult to find.
You can donate to the Hurricane Ida response through Convoy’s website.
