The former news director of KSMU in Springfield died this week after a fight with ovarian cancer.
Missy Shelton Belote was 44.
She was known as one of the premiere political reporters in Missouri during her time with NPR.
KSMU reports she became a pastor after moving to Tennessee.
She leaves behind her husband, also a former journalist, and three children.
