A man from Monett is dead and another man from Monett is in custody after authorities found a dead body in a field near Butterfield.
Authorities were alerted at 6:02 p.m. and found the body near Farm Road 1078 and Farm Road 2140.
The Barry County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Missouri State Highway Patrol in its investigation.
The victim was Daylon Michael Anderson, a 25-year-old man from Monett.
He was found with an apparent gunshot wound.
Authorities discovered a vehicle had left the scene while investigating the scene, and shortly afterward received a call about a vehicle on fire on Farm Road 1090.
Responders were able to save the vehicle and uncovered a license plate, connecting the vehicle to Anderson.
The suspect, Dylan Williams, 21, is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
