Branson Police are investigating after skeletal remains were found in a wooded area near Highway 248 and Gretna road in Branson.
Branson Police say a person hunting for mushrooms came across the remains on Saturday and reported it to authorities. A comprehensive search Sunday confirmed the remains were human.
There is one active missing person investigation in Branson, but authorities do not believe the discovery of these remains is consistent with the facts of that case.
