Springfield City Council To Vote On Next Recovery Phase Today

The Springfield City Council will vote today to move Springfield into the next phase of its recovery plan.

If the council votes yes, the next phase, phase yellow, will start on April 16. The recovery plan requires certain criteria to be met before the council approves the next phase.

Two out of three following thresholds have to be met:

  • Under 40 new COVID-19 cases per day.
  • Under 50 individuals hospitalized in COVID-19 isolation.
  • 25% of the population 16 and older fully vaccinated.

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department says we have already met threshold 1 and 2. Health Department acting health director Katie Towns is optimistic about reaching 25% population vaccination rate by the 16th.

Phase yellow will remove occupancy restrictions, but will still require masks. The maximum capacity for mass gatherings will be raised to 500.

Mayor Ken McClure says he is urging caution.
