Springfield Police are warning people about a national spoofing scam involving the department.

The call appears to come from Springfield Police headquarters.

But the caller asks for money and says the victim’s relative is in jail or has been in an accident.

Police say they will never call you and ask for money.

If you get one of those scam calls, you should call Springfield Police at 864-1810.
