Mercy and Missouri State University are preparing to store the coronavirus vaccine once it arrives in Springfield.
Mercy is the area’s primary storage location, while MSU is considered a backup.
The two possible COVID-19 vaccines need to be stored at subzero temperatures. The Moderna Vaccine requires temperatures of -4 Fahrenheit, while the Pfizer one requires temperatures of -94 Fahrenheit.
Both locations will have backup generators in case they lose power and security systems to prevent tampering and theft.
