Man From Monett Who Sold Meth to “Half the Town” Sentenced

A man from Monett is in jail after being found guilty for conspiracy to distribute more than 20 pounds of meth.

He faces 12 years without parole.

Court Records say 54-year-old Eric Eugene Akins sold meth in Greene, Barry, Lawrence, and Howell Counties from May to December in 2018. Akins allegedly bragged to investigators that he sold meth to “half the town.”

Akins obtained 10 pounds of methamphetamine from his co-defendant Damian Arreola-Chico. Arreola-Chico is from Purdy, MO. Law Enforcement says the meth was around 99% pure.

At the time of offense, Akins was on state probation after his fifth conviction for possessing a controlled substance.

Court records say Law Enforcement busted Akins in 2018, after they found over 100 grams in his backpack.
