(Springfield’s News Talk 104.1) – The Ozarks Pridefest is scheduled for June 8 in downtown Springfield.
The event will feature a pride parade and performances from drag queens.
Representative Jamie Gragg of Ozarks says drag performances are over-sexualized and not appropriate for children.
“I’m asking the City of Springfield and its sponsors to reconsider this type of event, as it will expose our children to performances and situations that are not age or developmentally appropriate for our youth,” said Gragg.
Organizers of the event say the event will be “family-friendly.”
Ally sponsors of the event include Arvest, Missouri Jobs with Justice, and the Springfield-Greene County Library.
