(Springfield’s News Talk 104.1) – A man from Springfield has been sentenced for a 2023 murder.
Ronald Lee Curnow was sentenced to 22 years for the death of Jimmie Johnson.
Curnow pleaded guilty to 1st-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.
On May 3, 2023, at 1:54 AM, Springfield Police Department officers responded to a report of someone who had been shot behind a residence at 2304 N. National Ave. When officers arrived, they located a man lying in the back yard with a gunshot wound.
The victim, 42-year-old Jimmie E. Johnson III, was transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Another suspect in the case, Payne Morse, also pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm and tampering with evidence in felony prosecution. Morse was sentenced to a total of five years in prison.
