(KTTS News) — The state is doing what it can to help 500 workers who lost their jobs when an aluminum plant closed in Southeast Missouri.

Magnitude 7 Metals in Marston made up about 20 percent of the primary aluminum production in the US.

Senator Josh Hawley recently asked President Biden to invoke the Defense Production Act to keep the plant open, saying it was vital to the nation’s national security.
