Best Buy has issued a recall for a total of about 930,000 in the U.S. for their in-house brand Insignia Pressure Cookers.  For the six- and eight-quart pressure cookers, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has listed the model numbers NS-MC60SS8, NS-MC60SS9 and NS-MC80SS9.

The CPSC says that due to the erroneous markings, consumers could “overfill the pot,” something the recall notice said could lead “liquids to be ejected when the pressure cooker is vented using the quick release method or opened while its contents are pressurized.”

The CPSC recall note says:

Name of Product: Insignia pressure cookers – specifically recalled is the Insignia 6-Quart Multi-Function Pressure Cooker, model no. NS-MC60SS8 (in the USA) and NS-MC60SS9 and NS-MC80SS9 (in Canada)
Hazard: The pressure cooker has incorrect volume markings on the inner pot. This can cause consumers to overfill the pot and hot food and liquids to be ejected when the pressure cooker is vented using the quick release method or opened while its contents are pressurized, posing a burn hazard to consumers.
Remedy: Replace
Recall Date: October 26, 2023
Units: About 930,000.
