Similar to what older generations experienced on December 7, 1941, Americans remember what they were doing and where they were on September 11, 2001 when they heard the news of the terroist attacks with two planes at the World Trade Center in New York, the plane that hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and the crash of a fourth plane in Pennsylviana.

Today we remember those events and the lives lost in the attacks on our country.  On December 18, 2001, President George W. Bush officially designated September 11th as Patriot Day. The day has also been designated as a day that the U.S. flag should be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sundown, not just until noon as is done on Memorial Day.

The City of Marshfield is holding its third annual rememberance today at Patriot Park. You can learn more on their Patriot Park Facebook page.

One of the most iconic performances of music written after 9-11 was Alan Jackson performing his song “”Where Were You” (When The World Stopped Turning)” for the very first time on the 2001 CMA Awards. It capture a moment in time which we won’t forget.  You can watch the performance here.

May we never forget.
