Coal Train Catches Fire Near Rogersville

(KTTS News) — A coal train caught fire this morning northwest of Rogersville.

Logan-Rogersville Fire Chief Richard Stirts says the the last engine on the two-mile long BNSF train caught fire about 7 a.m.

The train stopped on the tracks on Farm Road 170 between Farm Roads 243 and 253 because of a diesel fire on top of the engine.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading.

There are no traffic delays.

Stirts says it will be up to BNSF to remove the train for repairs.

Firefighters from several departments were called to a train fire this morning near Rogersville.

It happened around 7 a.m. northwest of town.

The train stopped on the tracks at Farm Road 170 and Farm Road 243.

The last car reportedly caught fire.

There have been no reports of any injuries.
