Southside Baptist Church in Mountain Grove

(KTTS) – Charges have been filed against a man arrested for setting fire to a Mountain Grove church over the weekend.

James Hopkins III faces two counts of second-degree burglary and one count of arson.

Firefighters responded to the fire at the Southside Baptist Church on June 10th.

Officials said Hopkins is a homeless man from South Carolina.

Police say after Hopkins set fire to the church, he fled and later admitted to breaking in and stealing food and several other items.

A judge set his bond at $50,000. A bond hearing for Hopkins has been scheduled for June 26th.
