Press Release
Former Drury guard Paige Robinson became the first-ever Lady Panther selected in the WNBA Draft. Robinson was a third round pick and was the 31st player selected overall on Monday night when she was drafted by the Dallas Wings.
Robinson finished her career with Drury in 2021-22 and played for Illinois State in 2022-23 as a graduate transfer. She was the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and the league’s Newcomer of the Year, and she helped the Redbirds to a 24-9 record.
In her four years with the Lady Panthers, Drury compiled a 123-8 record, four Great Lakes Valley Conference championships, two NCAA-II regional titles, two Final Fours, and a national championship game appearance in 2021. Robinson was named the NCAA-II Player of the Year by the WBCA and won the Ron Lenz Award as the Most Valuable Player in the nation as voted by members of the Division II media. She was a four-time First Team All-GLVC selection, was named the GLVC Tournament MVP twice, and was the Midwest Region MVP in 2021.
Despite playing in a season shortened by COVID in 2020-21, and missing half of the following season with a broken wrist, Robinson still scored more than 2,000 career points and broke the program record for career three-pointers. She set Drury’s record for career scoring average, and she is the only player in team history to rank in the top 12 in career points, rebounds, assists, and steals.
Robinson was also a four-time GLVC All-Academic award winner and was named an Academic All-American in 2021. She graduated from Drury in the spring of 2022 with a degree in Marketing.
