(KTTS News) — Stone County voters approved a new sales tax last Tuesday that will bring $1 million dollars to the 911 call center.
The tax passed by a two to one margin.
County leaders say the money will be used to help hire and train dispatchers.
They hope those dispatchers will stay in Stone County, instead of leaving for other jobs.
The county also wants to install next-gen technology called Mobile CAD that can pinpoint someone’s exact location.
