(KTTS News) — A Hermann Police officer has died after a shooting at a convenience store Sunday night.

Detective Sergeant Mason Griffin died from his injuries.

Both officers were taken to the hospital.

The second officer, whose name has not been released, is in serious but stable condition.

Authorities are still looking for Kenneth Lee Simpson, 35, from St. Louis County.

He has a long history of charges involving drugs, weapons, assault, and property damage.

The Highway Patrol has issued a Blue Alert after a man shot two police officers and barricaded himself inside a home in Hermann, Missouri.

The shooting happened around 9:15 Sunday night at a Casey’s Convenience Store.

Authorities say Kenneth Lee Simpson, 35, from St. Louis County, shot the officers and then barricaded himself in a home across the street.

A Blue Alert is issued when a peace officer is killed or seriously wounded.

A TV station says one officer was shot in the head, the other in the chest.

Both are in critical condition.

Hermann is along the Missouri River, about 40 miles east of St. Louis.
