(KTTS News) — The Senate has heard testimony about a Republican bill that would amend Missouri’s Sunshine Law.
Senator Andrew Koenig from St. Louis sponsors the bill
He says the Sunshine Law has been abused over the years.
Koenig says his amendment would keep people’s private information private.
For example, people who sign up for email communication with public officials would be kept private.
But the Missouri News Network reports that not everyone agrees with the amendment.
Gary Figgins from Kennett testified against the bill, saying public officials don’t need more loopholes to circumvent the Sunshine Law.
Despite being a partisan bill, both sides agree the sensitive information of citizens should be kept private.
