(KTTS News) — A public parking lot in the Commercial Street Historic District in Springfield is closed for up to eight weeks for construction.
The project at Robberson and Pacific includes reconfiguring the parking lot with new pavement, lighting, and landscaping.
Funding for the $595,000 project comes from the Commercial Street Tax Increment Financing District (TIF), the 1/4-cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax and Public Works funds.

The public parking lot located at Robberson Avenue and Pacific Street in the Commercial Street Historic District will close beginning Monday, Aug. 15 for the construction of improvements.
The project will include the reconfiguration of the parking lot with new pavement, lighting and landscaping.
Construction is expected to last 6-8 weeks pending weather and contractor availability. Following project completion, similar improvements will be constructed at the public parking lot located at Campbell Avenue and Pacific Street.
Commercial Street visitors are advised to use alternate public parking available at Campbell Avenue and Pacific Street and at Jefferson Avenue and Blaine Street.
Improvements for both parking lots are expected to cost a combined total of $595,000, funded partially through Commercial Street Tax Increment Financing (TIF), the ¼-cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax and additional Public Works funds.
