(KTTS News) — The Ozark County Sheriff has been forced to lay off seven staff members, including two full-time deputies.
The sheriff was forced to make the cuts because of inflation, increasing expenses, and lower than expected sales tax revenue.
It comes after the sheriff announced that deputies would only be able to respond to violent calls during patrols.
The Ozark County Times reports that commissioners have discussed putting a half-cent sales tax for law enforcement on the November ballot.
