(KTTS News) — Springfield Police are looking for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian.

Edward Carnell, 57, from Springfield was found laying in the road Saturday night near Madison and Holland.

Police found the suspect’s vehicle, but the driver wasn’t around.

On July 30, 2022, at 10:37 p.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to a pedestrian hit by a vehicle in the area Madison Street and Holland Avenue.

Edward Carnell, 57, of Springfield, was found laying in the roadway with trauma to his head and body.

The vehicle left the scene of the accident. Carnell was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

His family has been notified.

Officers later located the suspect vehicle, but it was unoccupied.

The investigation is on-going and the Springfield Police Department is still seeking the driver.

This was the 13th traffic fatality in Springfield in 2022.
