(KTTS News) — Grant money could help expand I-44 in Springfield from four to six lanes.
For the second year in a row, MoDOT is applying for an infrastructure grant.
It would include nearly $66 million dollars for widening work.
Springfield also plans to spend nearly $2 million dollars on a box culvert under I-44.
It would extend the trail system from Doling Park to Fulbright Spring Park.
KY3 says if the funding is in place, construction could start in 2025.
