Springfield-area hospitals continue the battle with COVID-19.
The latest numbers show 278 COVID positive patients in Springfield-area hospitals.
That includes 172 patients at CoxHealth, and 106 at Mercy.
Cox reported 11 deaths since Friday.
Mercy says 97 percent of people in the hospital with COVID are unvaccinated.
Covid update: 172 Covid+ inpatients, 11 deaths since Friday, symptomatic positivity rate continuing down to 20.53%. ERs in Springfield very slow as hospitals are dealing with high admissions and no where to transfer. This is adversely effecting Covid and and noncovid patients. pic.twitter.com/2QD1pbDSuY

106 COVID+ @MercySGF today. 22 more still admitted but out of isolation. 97% unvaccinated. Census is down which is good. New projections coming this week. Vaccination is still our best/only option to move beyond the Delta and avoid the next variant. https://t.co/eu5DSyFXOy
