The National Weather Service says severe storms will continue to move across the I-44 corridor tonight.

Storms are almost done in the Springfield metro area, but will continue to push off to the east for several more hours.

Severe weather remains possible, along with flash flooding.

Several flash flood warnings were issued Saturday night for counties off to the northeast of Springfield.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the entire KTTS listening area until 11 p.m. Saturday night.

Original Story

The National Weather Service anticipates that this afternoon, storms will organize across southeast Kansas into southwest Missouri, bringing damaging winds of 60-70 mph, and large hail up to golf ball size.

KTTS spoke to Drew Albert, a meteorologist working at the National Weather Service.

“The best potential for severe weather is late this afternoon or early this evening,” says Albert, “I am anticipating the worst will be through by 9 p.m.”

Albert did not rule out the possibility of severe weather after that time, however.

He says since it’s a line of storms, the worst winds will be early on.

The National Weather Service advises everyone to keep an eye on the radar.
