Friends and family are mourning the loss of KCUR public radio journalist Aviva Okeson-Haberman.
KCUR reported she died Friday when she was hit by a stray bullet inside her first-floor Kansas City apartment.
Okeson-Haberman, 24, graduated from Central High School in Springfield in 2015.
She volunteered with the Boys and Girls Club in Springfield.
She graduated from the University of Missouri in 2019.
She’s the daughter of former Springfield News-Leader reporter Sarah Okeson.
