A tax levy for the purpose of helping Walnut Grove renovate its school buildings has failed for the third time.
On election night, the results came out 189 to 188, with 189 opposed. The vote was close, so officials recounted. Votes from Polk and Dade counties were also included in the recount.
The recount played a significant role in two other races.
Amanda Gooch won a seat for the Willard School Board by a single vote.
Two alderman candidates in Walnut Grove are now tied. Christy Gott and Fred Ruth both sit at 14 votes. The candidates would have several options to break the tie.
