Governor Parson Signs Executive Order Extending State of Emergency Through August

Missouri Governor Mike Parson has signed an order extending the state of emergency in Missouri through the end of August.

The governor signed the order this weekend, allowing the government more flexibility in responding to the health emergency of COVID-19.

“For over a year now, we have worked nonstop to take a balanced approach, fight COVID-19, and keep Missourians as safe as possible,” the Governor said in an official press release Friday. “We have made incredible progress in a short amount of time, and we must continue doing all that we can to support Missouri citizens, business, and communities throughout the recovery process.”

The state of emergency extension is a strategic one, allowing local and state governments continued access to federal aid, and the continued utilization of the National Guard.

The initial declaration of the state of emergency was in March of 2020, and allowed for nearly 600 state statutes and regulations to be waived or suspended.

Without the extension, the order would have expired Wednesday, the 31st of March.
