A suspect who died in an officer-involved shooting in Kimberling City Friday has been identified.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the man was Timothy Jonas Johnson of Kimberling City. He was 33 years old. The standoff began Friday morning between Johnson and Highway Patrol Troopers and Stone County deputies at the Port Holiday Condos.
Authorities received a call about a break-in at one of the condos.
Court records say Johnson had a warrant for his arrest with kidnapping, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon charges.
Johnson had formerly been imprisoned in 2008 for resisting arrest and trespassing.
Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader says Johnson fired shots at law enforcement just after 8 o’clock. Nobody was hit during the initial challenge. Authorities attempted to arrest Johnson by stunning him using a flash bang grenade.
The Sheriff says Johnson fired at officers again, and one Highway Patrol Trooper fired back, wounding Johnson, who died shortly thereafter.
