Police say a group of protesters left Missouri Senator Josh Hawley’s home near suburban Washington D.C. Monday night after officers explained they were violating local picketing laws.
Hawley took to Twitter, calling the group ShutDown DC “Antifa protesters” who threatened his wife and newborn daughter.
But police who responded to the scene say the group was peaceful.

Missouri Senator Josh Hawley says Antifa protesters threatened his wife and newborn daughter last night at their home in Washington D.C.
Hawley tweeted the group screamed threats, vandalized and pounded on the door of the home.
Tonight while I was in Missouri, Antifa scumbags came to our place in DC and threatened my wife and newborn daughter, who can’t travel. They screamed threats, vandalized, and tried to pound open our door. Let me be clear: My family & I will not be intimidated by leftwing violence

The group ShutDownDC posted a nearly hour long video showing them walking to Hawley’s home, standing on the sidewalk and front lawn.
The group tweeted that it sang songs and chanted and left a copy of the Constitution outside the front door.
3. It’s disappointing that Senator Hawley, an member of what presents itself as the greatest deliberative body in the world, would resort to calling us ‘scumbags’. But if he must. We’re happy to call him a snowflake.
