There’s new information in a shooting last night at the Highway Patrol headquarters in Lee’s Summit.
The patrol says employees inside the building heard gunshots coming from the parking lot.
A gunman armed with an assault style rifle fired several shots at the building.
Troopers inside told him to stop, but he refused, so they returned fire.
The patrol listed the suspect as Tayland Rahim and he is in stable condition.

Nobody else was hurt.
A suspicious package was found inside the man’s vehicle.
The Highway Patrol and police are processing more evidence found at a house in Kansas City.
The Highway Patrol first reported that it was a trooper outside the headquarters who saw the man and told him to stop.

A man with an assault style rifle was shot Monday night on the parking lot outside the Highway Patrol Troop A Headquarters in Lee’s Summit.
A trooper who was outside saw the man get out of a vehicle and ordered him to stop.
Two more came outside for backup and shot the man.
The man with the rifle was taken to the hospital.
No troopers were hurt.
A spokesman says the man had no reason to be there except to hurt people.
The bomb squad was called in to search the man’s vehicle.
Update to the shooting incident at Troop A HQ:
Preliminary information indicates the suspect was observed parking on the west side of Troop A. A trooper outside noticed the driver exit his vehicle with a rifle. He gave commands to the suspect then contacted Troop A HQ. (1/3)
