UPDATE
Springfield Police have provided more details about an investigation into multiple fatalities at a home near Scott and LaFontaine.
A lieutenant with the police department says officers responded to the home before 1 p.m. for calls of assault. Police discovered a male child and an adult woman dead inside the home.
Witnesses say the suspect fled from the home holding a knife. The suspect in connection has been arrested and was found on the 1400 block of North Brown.
Two other children were in the home when officers arrived.
One has serious injuries and the other is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses say they saw a man leave the home on foot with a knife after the reported assault.
