A former employee of the city of Fair Play has been charged by Polk County prosecutors of stealing money over the course of 5 years.
Prosecutors say Amy Buckley admitted to stealing.
The missing money was found with an external audit and investigation by the city. City leaders noticed something was amiss when the among charged for water sewage did not equal what was in the bank.
Over $100,000 was stolen.
The average annual budget of Fair Play is $250,000.
