Lieutenant Steve Westbrook, a veteran deputy of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office hit by a fleeing suspect vehicle on Friday, joined the Sheriff on Facebook Saturday to say he is feeling a lot better.

Westbrook said he was thankful for the many people reaching out to him.

“[According] to what I’m being told I look a lot better,” Westbrook said. “At least we caught that guy, he needs to go away for a long time.”

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Westbrook will be undergoing more surgeries.

Lt. Westbrook was hit while attempting to deploy spikestrips on the road to stop a suspect who was fleeing from deputies in a vehicle. The Sheriff says it appears he was hit intentionally.

The video from the Sheriff can be viewed below.
