Homeless families needing a place to escape the cold can get help at the old Rancho Motel near Kearney and Glenstone in Springfield.
It’s been turned into a temporary winter emergency shelter.
A spokesman for Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri says the shelter has been open for about two weeks.
Six families are staying there now with room for more.
The shelter is being paid for with CARES Act funding.
Roman Catholic Bishop Edward M Rice will bless the shelter Wednesday, December 2 at 9 a.m.
