The National Weather Service says there are favorable conditions for severe weather today.
It all hinges on how much instability we accumulate in the sunshine hours between storms. The NWS is currently betting that instability will be decently high.
“It looks like we will have a second round of showers and thunderstorms, these could be strong to severe, with [the main threat being] large hail and damaging winds. Also, given the atmospheric conditions, we cannot rule out an isolated tornado,” says Jeff Raberding, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Springfield.
