Springfield’s Police Chief Pushes for New Technology to Fight Crime

Springfield’s Police Chief is hoping to bring a new crime fighting tool that will help Police fight increasing crime in Springfield.

The city has seen more and more shootings the last few years. Chief Paul Williams says the technology is called shot-spotter and is used to triangulate gunfire and alert police. The tech has been used across the country and has proven reliable.

The Average this year through september is more than 27 reported shootings a month. That’s higher than the previous four years.

Springfield didn’t approve it before because of COVID-19, but the Police Chief is hoping it will come up in the budget this year.
