On July 15, 2020, the Greene County Sheriff’s Department investigated a robbery at the Fireworks Supermarket at 6597 W. Independence. After the investigation began, Greene County Sheriff investigators located and arrested a 17-year-old male from Springfield, on Thursday, July 16, 2020.

On Friday, July 17, 2020, Springfield Police were sent to the Kum & Go at 620 N. National after a 911 caller said the business had been robbed. Officers learned that the suspects had fired a handgun at a witness as they fled.  The witness was not injured and provided officers with a description of the vehicle.

A Greene County Deputy Sheriff responding to the area observed the suspect vehicle and, when the suspects failed to stop, initiated a vehicle pursuit.

During the pursuit, one suspect ran from the vehicle and was apprehended by the Deputy.

The driver of the vehicle continued fleeing in the vehicle and crashed near the intersection of Pershing Street and 9th Avenue in Springfield.

The second suspect fled on foot to 914 W. Walnut but later surrendered to officers after a perimeter was established around the home.

The two suspects arrested were a 23-year-old male from Springfield and an 18-year-old male from Springfield.

Authorities say the investigation has linked the three to the robberies.
