After postponing it from May to August, Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield says it will not be able to hold its commencement ceremony next month.
The chancellor says the growing rate of infection from COVID-19 in southwest Missouri poses too much risk.
All 2020 OTC graduates are invited to attend the college’s 2021 commencement ceremony in May.
The college says this year’s graduates will be mailed their diploma covers, along with other OTC keepsakes in a decorative box. Seniors already received their diplomas by mail.
OTC says it will release a video at 6 p.m. on August 19th featuring graduation speakers, including NBA player and Springfield native Anthony Tolliver, along with student speaker Hunter Clouse, distinguished alumna Marge Cheesman, OTC Board of Trustee Chair John Gentry, Chancellor Hal Higdon, and Provost Tracy McGrady.
