COVID-19 cases rose by nearly 500 Friday, a day after Missouri set a one-day record for new cases.
The state health department reported 493 new cases Friday.
Eight more people died, bringing the statewide death toll to 990.
Health officials say 19,914 people have now tested positive for the coronavirus.
