Springfield Police have released a timeline about this morning’s shooting at the Golden Pond Apartments on South Hillcrest.
Police say a man called 911 just before 2 a.m. saying two men were trying to break into his apartment.
He said one man had a gun.
Police say it looks like one of the men who tried to break inside was found a short distance away.
25-year-old Joshua Woods from Nixa had a gunshot wound and died at the hospital.
Detectives are looking for any other possible suspects.
Overnight we were dispatched to the area of Hillcrest & Republic Rd. regarding an injured male, identified as Joshua Woods, with probable gunshot wounds. Woods was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced deceased a short time later. Next of kin notifications have been made. Detectives continue to investigate and are working to identify any other possible suspects. (2/2)
